The pharmacist will be responsible for checking prescriptions to ensure that there are no errors, dispensing medications by compounding, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals and ensuring that they are appropriate and safe for the individual patient and providing advise on the dosage of medicines. She/he will participate in ward rounds,taking patient drug histories and be involved in making decisions on appropriate treatments which will also involve discussing treatments with patient’s relatives. She/ he will be required to ensure that all medicines are stores appropriately and securely.
The pharmacist may also be required to assist in writing guidelines for drug use within the hospital and implementing hospital regulations.
The incumbent will be expected to develop the hospital staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in mentoring and training programs
Qualifications and requirements
- A Bsc degree in pharmacy from a recognized university
- Excellent Public relations and communication skills
- Registered with the Pharmaceutical and Poisons Board Kenya
